  36. Do you need the DATA speed or the VOICEMAIL more? As it turns out, you
  37. have to compromise: A fast DATA modem doesn't necessarily deliver good
  38. voicemail performance and vice versa. Most voice modems today deliver
  39. POOR sound quality (and read this newsgroup for reliability
  40. issues...). I've got a very good VM / FAX  modem, but only 2400bps
  41. DATA (the NSC TYIN2000). I stick to it because I have found no
  42. satisfactory replacement (it's still available cheaply). Voice quality
  43. and reliability are VERY GOOD. Only basic features though (no faxback,
  44. paging, etc). For DATA I bought a cheap 14.4kbps modem.
